City of Grief | Chapter 1 - The Winter Festival

Created on December 17, 2024.

Hey there, story lovers! If you haven't watched the video yet, check it out above!
Imagine a winter festival so enchanting that it draws everyone from every corner of a snow-draped valley. That's what the Winter Festival in Crested Butte is like, with its shimmering lights and laughter. The scent of hot cocoa mixes with holiday music, creating a magical atmosphere that twirls around like snowflakes. Today, the town unveils the centerpiece: an ice sculpture that's been the talk of town for weeks.
Lila Thompson stands at the edge of the bustling square, her curly hair bouncing, eyes wide with anticipation. Beside her is Max Chen, adjusting his glasses skeptically, crossing his arms. But Lila believes in the legends—legends that say the sculpture holds the town's history, frozen in time. Anya Rivera, her dark hair cascading over her colorful scarf, joins them, admiring the glimmering ice.

However, an unsettling tension creeps through the crowd. The whispers of a curse become louder, chilling the air. Lila notices the furtive glances of the adults, their voices dropping in hushed tones. She feels a knot tightening in her stomach, a sense that something is terribly amiss.
When the mayor reveals the ice sculpture, gasps fill the square... but Lila sees something more. Flickers of visions from the past, shadows of sorrow just out of reach. Max dismisses it as just ice, but Lila's curiosity is piqued, and Anya's fingers brush the cold surface as if trying to connect with the emotions trapped within.
Lila, Max, and Anya stand before the sculpture as the sun sets, a foreboding sense settling over them. The festival is supposed to be a celebration, but beneath the beauty of the ice lies secrets waiting to be unraveled. (This is just the beginning! Are you ready?
What do you think the curse is about? Let me know in the comments!)
